Information and Communication Technologies in Education: Opportunities and Challenges


The Swiss Network for International Studies¬†(SNIS) proposes a debate on the¬†education for tomorrow: “Information and Communication Technologies in Education: Opportunities and Challenges”.

“How do new technologies open¬†new opportunities¬†for education at a global level? How do they help us face the challenges of migrations and globalization? What are the main features of digital natives and what is their relationship with current school systems?” Dr. Francesc Pedr√≥, chief¬†of Education Policy at¬†UNESCO, and an expert from the¬†UNHCR Learn Lab¬†will discuss these issues during the debate, which will take place on Monday, February 15, at 17.30 in Locarno,¬†in the¬†Aula Magna of ¬†SUPSI¬†Dipartimento formazione e apprendimento.

New “look & feel” for the iCorsi2 platform

iCorsi2, the eLearning platform of USI and SUPSI, has now a brand new look!

The tweets of eLab, of USI and of SUPSI have been integrated into the homepage, as well as the details of the contact persons for USI and for all the SUPSI departments.

The platform has also been upgraded to a new version of Moodle (2.4). To support the users, in the next weeks the FAQ section will be progressively updated.

Plagiarism and other unfair academic behaviors

Lorenzo Cantoni¬†and¬†Stefano Tardini¬†will open the series of meetings “Ap√©ro 2012-2013”, organized by the Servizio didattica e formazione docenti (SEDIFO) of SUPSI, with a discussion (in Italian) on the topic “Plagiarsim and other unfair academic behaviors“.

The meeting will be on Monday, December 3, at 17.30, in the SUPSI seat of Manno РPalazzo E (room 111).

L’insegnamento e l’apprendimento nell’era delle TIC e della multimedialit√†

On Tuesday, September 7, 2010 a workshop on “Teaching and learning in the age of ICT and multimedia” will be held. The following speeches are scheduled:
Lorenzo Cantoni (Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at USI, and scientific director of eLab): “Technologies and their users”;
Stefano Tardini (executive director of eLab): “Digital natives: just a label?”;
Floriano Moro (Dipartimento Formazione e Apprendimento, SUPSI): “Why do teachers use / adopt ICT in the classroom?”.
The workshop will take place at SUPSI in Manno – Palazzo E, room 111, from 16.30 to 18.30.
