The tests on the¬†“Safe Exam Browser (SEB)” software continue at USI. After a first test in the course of Medieval history (“Storia medievale” – prof. Marco Meschini) during the Autumn Semester 2015-2016, on Monday, June 27th, 2016,¬†the exam of the course of Multimedia application (“Applicazioni multimediali”), given by dr. Silvia De Ascaniis¬†and prof. Lorenzo Cantoni, was held.
The exam was taken by 80 students of the Faculty of communication sciences; 65 of them used the SEB software on their own laptops or on the laptops provided by the university, without any relevant issue. The remaining 15 students preferred doing the exam on paper.
SEB is a software that allows safely running online exams on the iCorsi2 platform using the Quiz activity. The software changes any computer into a secure workstation, regulating the access to utilities, and preventing unauthorised resources being used during an exam.
The mobile apps of iCorsi2 and of USI for iOS and Androidare have been published in the last weeks.
The USIapp provides access to services and information about the university campus of Lugano and is available in English and Italian. Through the app you can check the length of the queue to enter the cafeteria (“mensa”) and download the menu, find information about courses, exams and services, search books in the library, find and subscribe for sport activities, and so on. New functionalities will be added in the next releases. The app is available in the App Store (for iOS) and¬†Google Play (for Android).
The iCorsi2 app allows students to easily access the iCorsi2 platform through smartphones and tablets and can be downloaded for free from the App Store (for iOS) and from the Google Play Store (for Android).
- responsive design (iCorsi2 can be displayed optimally from any kind of device, such as computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones);
- cleaner graphics (merging of all available settings for a resource/activity in a single menu; new text-editor);
- advanced conditional activities (each resource/activity can be made available only for a single user, a group of users, or starting from a given date);
- annotation of PDF assignments (teachers can add comments and annotate PDF assignments directly from the platform).
By the end of the summer, some new videotutorials about these features will be added on the iCorsi2 FAQ section.
iCorsi2, the eLearning platform of USI and SUPSI, has now a brand new look!
The iCorsi2 Handbooks contain some basic information and instructions for using the platform. In the student version procedures for creating an account, editing the personal profile or enrolling in a course are described. In the teacher version it is illustrated e.g. how to change the course settings, how to upload a file, how to use use a forum, etc..
The handbooks (PDF files) are available in Italian and in English at the HELP page of the iCorsi2 Platform (only available after login).
